Scalebound was officially cancelled by Microsoft on January 9.
There is nothing to confirm why the game was cancelled but we do know we are majorly disappointed as this looked to be a run for Game of the Year without us even playing it. It was looking to be a perfect mix of action in an RPG open world – with the added bonus of the four player co-op available.
The official Scalebound page has been removed from the website and the videos have been removed from the Xbox Youtube channel.
The PlatinumGames developed game had received a lot of hype since it’s reveal at E3 but rumours and reports by Kotaku suggested it was in a state of development hell. There were even rumours that director Hideki Kamiya was taking time off due to mental health reasons- rumours which were quickly dispelled on Twitter.
And…I took time off for my mental health? …Me!?
