Wow Patch 7.2

Patch 7.2 is here, and it is bringing us back to the Broken Shore.

This patch is bringing us a new dungeon, more class campaigns, new followers, demon assaults, flying, pet dungeons, profession and combat updates and more. So here is what we think you should know straight off.

The Broken Shore is back and we are leading the Armies of the Legionfall through a new campaign to fight back the Legion. With the Broken Shore this will include new world quests, including class specific world quests. Your class campaign and the Legionfall campaign will reward you with a new class mount once completed.

The Cathedral of Eternal Night is open to attack. Located in the upper reaches of the Tomb of Sargeras, dungeoneers will face Agronox, Thrashbite, Domatrax and Mephistroph in this beautiful preclude to the Tomb.

Demon assaults are returning to Azeroth, only this time around the Broken Isles. Battle back the legion forces as they fight to conquer the Isles.

Flying is coming to the Broken Isles – completing the achievement Broken Isles Pathfinder, Part 2 will unlock flying.

Class changes have been implemented in the new patch, full details are in the patch notes below.

Legendary items can now be equipped at 101 (down from 110). Changes have been made to existing legendary items and new legendaries can be crafted by different professions.

Dungeons are now more difficult! But, the item level of drops has increased.

In mythic plus dungeons some affixes have been changed, removed and new ones have been added. New and removed are as follows:

  • Overflowing has been removed
  • Bursting has been added – non boss enemies explode after death causing all players to suffer 10% of their max health in damage over 4 seconds.
  • Fel Explosives has been added- explosive orbs appear which explode after a period of time inflicting 50% max health in damage to players
  • Quaking has been added – players will quake dealing 20% of player’s max health in damage and interrupting spell casts of the player and nearby allies.
  • Grievous has been added – when below 90% health, players have grievous wound.

In PVP, talents and skills have been changed and adapted, full details are in the patch notes below.

Games we wish hadn’t been cancelled

Scalebound – Supposed to be one of the biggest release this year, the gaming community was shocked when it was announced as cancelled in January. An action role-playing game, players would play as protagonist Drew who would team up with his dragon Thuban to travel the world Draconis. The first Platinum game to focus the role play instead of action, the story was to focus on Drew to prevent a conflict of two main characters. With the ability to play four person co op, this was going to be winner.

Silent Hills – Norman Reedus voice acting for us? We were all so excited. This cancelled horror game was supposed to be the ninth in the series. The pairing of Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro was set to make one of the best games yet. The demo for Silent Hills – P.T was raved about by many different sites. The pair are set to come back with Norman Reedus in new game Death Stranding, but this time introducing Madds Mikkelsen into the fray.

Prey 2 – The planned sequel to the original Prey, the game was supposed to start  after the events of the first game.  Playing as U.S Marshall Killian Samuels, a passenger on the flight ship that crashed into the Sphere in the first game, you are a bounty hunter on Exodus. With no memory of his abduction from the ship, he meets a human who met him during that missing period. He works as a bounty hunter as he reclaims his memories. The game was cancelled in 2014 at PAX Australia. The reboot was announced in 2016 at the Electro Entertainment Expo 2016.

Rainbow Six Patriots –  Based in New York , Team Rainbow was going up against a terrorist group called the True Patriots. In 2012, lead designer Philippe Therien, creative director David Sears, narrative director Richard Rouse III and animation director Brent George were announced as being removed from the development team. The game was scrapped in 2014. After cancellation Ubisoft started work on Rainbow Six: Siege.

Star Wars 1313 –  Cancelled by Disney after they took over . The game was supposed to give us insight into one of our favourite characters: Boba Fett. Players would see Boba Fett during his time in one of Coruscant’s shadier areas – Level 1313. Whilst not officially cancelled, the project is on hold, and the license was abandoned in 2014. This was one of the biggest losses for the Star Wars games franchise.

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun – Cancelled in 2012 after three years of work, the multiplayer part of the game was salvaged by Square Enix and Psyonix eventually becoming Nosgoth. Taking place after the events of Legacy of Kain: Defiance, introducing protagonists Geir the vampire and Asher the human whose souls have entwined, the story would follow from revenge to saving the world – what more could we want?

World of Darkness Online –  Based on Vampire: The Masquerade, this was meant to be a role-playing game focusing on social interaction and player politics. If this sounds a lot like a fantasy Eve Online, that’s because it is. White Wolf Publishing merged with CCP to adapt the game to the World of Darkness universe. After nine years in production, the game was cancelled in 2014. This game was supposed to be the way to bring World of Darkness to the larger audience.

Fallout Online –  An MMO set in the Fallout universe. This exciting foray into the online world was set back by legal proceedings between Bethesda and Interplay. An out of court settlement resulted in Bethesda receiving full rights to the Fallout series and the MMO being cancelled. Although it might have been difficult to fit the ‘lone survivor’ ideal into an MMO, we were all eagerly awaiting a chance to try a band of survivors.

Fable Legends – A free to play RPG, Fable Legends got cancelled during beta. Taking place 100 years before the events of the original trilogy, the player would work as a team with other players or AI to complete story. Similar to the rest of the series, players can do jobs, and mini games.

Halo Chronicles – Supposed to be the “filmiest” of all the games, not much was known about this game before it got cancelled in 2008. The episodic game was to be directed by Peter Jackson and would have been an interactive story telling of John 117’s back story.

Starcraft: Ghost –  Part of Blizzard Entertainment’s Starcraft series, this game was supposed to be a stealth-action game. As a third person shooter, it would have followed Nova four years after the conclusion of Starcraft: Brood War. Put on indefinite hold in 2006, the game was officially cancelled in 2014. The backstory for Nova was released in the novel Starcraft Ghost: Nova by Keith R. A. DeCandido.

Time Crisis Adventure – This collaborative project between Darkworks and Namco got cancelled for unknown reasons. Another in the Time Crisis series, we were expecting more from the shooter. In the end, all Time Crisis references were removed and the game was turned into a survival horror game by the name of Cold Fear.

Timesplitters 4 – Abandoned in 2012, the fourth instalment of the Timesplitters series was to be made by the original dev team renamed Crytek UK. Although there is no plans for Crytek to finish the game, a group of fans have been given permission to develop a Timesplitters mod named Timesplitters Rewind. It is expected that the game will be released later this year.

Orisa – quick look

Orisa has arrived!

Built by Efi from decommissioned OR15 defense bots, our new tank has joined the lineup. A well rounded, utility driven tank, she has the right mix of offensive and defensive capabilities to push Reinhardt out of his first tank pick position. Especially with the ability to counter Reinhardt’s strong skills such as Earthshatter and Charge.

Fusion Driver

Fusion Driver – her main weapon is an automatic gun, with decent range this fairly accurate gun can make Orisa feel more like an offense champion than a tank. Striding through enemy lines as a tank and having the ability to take a few champions out at the same time is invaluable as a front line tank.

Firing her main weapon does slow this defense bot down however, and comes with an unfortunately long reload time attached.

Halt – her alternative fire may remind you of Zarya’s ultimate – because it is. Albeit less powerful and it doesn’t come with the trapping mechanism it can be super strong in forcing players away from areas or delaying them in choke points to allow offense champions to destroy the enemy.

Fortify – This ability reduces damage taken by Orisa and “makes her unstoppable for a short time.” This means you can effectively coutner Reinhardt’s Earthshatter ultimate if you can see it coming. This ability prevents knock backs from Lucio and Pharah and can stop a Reinhardt charge.

Protective Barrier

Protective Barrier – This is a throw-able device resembling a curved Reinhardt shield that sets up a stationary shield at the location it is thrown at. Stick this on the payload to protect a Bastion, and you can still go charge the front line.

Supercharger ultimate

Supercharger (ultimate) – a short range buff to allies which increases damage done by friendly champions within line of sight of the device.

Blizzard announce Starcraft Remaster

The original Starcraft game is set to be remastered this year by Blizzard. The game turned 19 years old earlier this year. Not only will we be seeing the campaign we fell in love with turn to 4K Ultra HD graphics but we can continue to battle online against players in the competitive mode.

The game isn’t just seeing a visual update of it’s previous graphics, but will also include new illustrations to help us relive the stories of Lieutenant Sarah Kerrigan and Praetor Fenix and our other favourite characters.

There have been no mentions of changing the game in anyway but revamping the audio and graphics. We hope it stays this way, as the original story and gameplay is the reason to go back. The original Starcraft game is currently free for those interested in reminding themselves why they love Starcraft or for those looking to see why they should.

Overwatch Patch Notes – 21 March, 2017

The latest Overwatch Patch is here, with the new champion Orisa joining the fray.

The new patch is bringing in a lot of champion changes to try and balance the roster.  To name a few:

  • Bastion is becoming a little less tanky to make him easier to deal with.
  • Ana will be dealing less damage to balance her out as a support and to make other support choices viable.

With Orisa being introduced with this patch, we could see a new tank meta arising. Where D.V.A and Reinhardt ruled previously we’ll have to wait and see if Orisa takes first as tank pick with her well rounded skill set.
